Up for sale is the exact item shown in the photos – a beautiful and historically significant sterling silver proof medal issued in 1976 by the International Society of Postmasters, minted by The Franklin Mint, to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Cayman Islands’ first postage stamps (1901–1976).

This commemorative set includes a silver medal and a 10¢ stamp, both officially issued and postmarked on March 12, 1976 in George Town, Grand Cayman.

• Obverse: Stunning high-relief cameo portrait of Queen Victoria at age 15, based on the iconic medallion designed by William Wyon in 1837 – famously used on the world’s first postage stamp, the Penny Black.

• Reverse: Commemorative text (English & French) marking the 75th anniversary of the Cayman Islands’ first postage stamps.
