✨ 1977 Yugoslavia First Day Cover Silver Medal - Prota Matija Nenadović ✨
This 1977 First Day Cover was issued by the International Society of Postmasters to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Prota Matija Nenadović, a major figure in the First and Second Serbian Insurrections. Nenadović, an influential priest and statesman, played a crucial role during the Serbian uprising against Ottoman rule and worked tirelessly to gain international support for the Serbian cause.
The sterling silver proof medal, sculpted by Albert Michini and minted by The Franklin Mint, depicts Nenadović at the Congress of Vienna (1814-1815) where he advocated passionately for his people.
The stamp affixed to the cover, canceled in Belgrade on February 4, 1977, reproduces a portrait of Nenadović by Uroš Knežević, housed in the National Museum of Belgrade.
Material: Sterling Silver (.925)
Date of Issue: February 4, 1977
Origin: Belgrade, Yugoslavia
Limited Edition Proof
Please note: As a vintage item, it may show minor signs of age and storage.
A beautiful addition for collectors of postal memorabilia and silver medals.
